TDT Collections

The Tourist Development Tax Collection for the month of July was a 6.5 percent increase over the same month in 2017 with a 8.5 percent increase for the fiscal year.

 

DestiMetrics

For the month of July, occupancy had a 1.0 percent decrease and there was a 2.0 percent increase in ADR over the same month in 2017. The month of August had a projected performance of a 14.2 percent increase in occupancy and a 4.6  percent increase in ADR over the same month in 2017.The past six months had a 3.4 percent increase in occupancy and a 3.5 percent increase in ADR. The six months ahead have a projected performance of a 6.3 percent increase in occupancy with a 0.4 percent increase in ADR.

Pinnacle Awards

Visit Panama City Beach's Vice President of Marketing, Jayna Leach, has been named a 2018 Pinnacle Award winner. Presented by 850 Business Magazine, the Pinnacle Awards shine the spotlight on female business leaders who hold themselves to high standards and contribute to the betterment of the community. There were 10 winners seleceted from the 18-county region of Northwest Florida and all winners were honored at a luncheon on August 22 at Florida State University Panama City.

Sales Travel Show Update

This summer, the Visit Panama City Beach Sales team is on the road attending many travel and trade shows, meeting with potential visitors and conference planners. The team attended the Sales Connect Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah this past month where they had appointments with over 40 meeting planners and will be heading to London in November to attend the World Travel Market tradeshow.

Florida Festivals and Events Association Awards

Visit Panama City Beach and the Bay County Tourist Development Council received many awards from the Florida Festivals and Events Association (FFEA)  in the month of August. Congratulations to the Visit Panama City Beach Sports & Events Operations Manager, Patrick Stewart, who received the Emerging Leader award and to Seabreeze Jazz Festival, who received many awards for their 2018 event. Other awards received included the following for the annual Beach Home for the Holidays event hosted by Visit Panama City Beach. 

  • 1st place - Promotional Poster 
  • 1st place - Public Relations Campaign 
  • 3rd place - Outdoor Signage

Welcome, Charlene Honnen!

Charlene Honnen joins the Visit Panama City Beach team as the new Director of Finance.  Charlene has over a decade of experience working as the Tourist Tax Specialist and Assistant Finance Officer for the Bay County Clerk's office, where she was responsible for the enforcement, compliance and collection of the Bay County Tourist Tax. Prior to her experience with Bay County, Charlene served as the Accounting Manager for Calhoun County Clerk's office and has been a certified Public Accountant since 1988.

Chasin' The Sun 

The award-winning television series, Chasin' The Sun, has partnered with Outdoor America to distribute the program nationwide. Beginning in the fourth quarter of 2018, episodes from seasons two and three will be available to 106 affiliates of Raycom Media and Gray Television, reaching more than 58 million U.S. households. Season four episodes are currently being filmed and the new season will premiere on Discovery Channel in January 2019.

Next month brings the annual Pirates of the High Seas Fest on October 5-7 at Pier Park and the Grand Lagoon. The partner toolkit includes the event logo, poster, rack brochure, billboards and more. Please feel free to use these assets to assist you in marketing the event.
